My One True Love: Food

Food is our common ground, a universal experience- James Beard

Hello my lovely readers, welcome to my love story. I must tell you it's not like your usual love stories, but I am sure that you have already heard this line so many times that you already have guessed how the story is going to unfold. But trust me, this is not a boy meets a girl story, instead, this is a story of a girl finding happiness in the most basic requirement, i.e., FOOD.

Food and human love is not so different to me. They both look so simple, sound pleasant but they are so complicated in reality that one step wrong and you are out of the game, and they both require lots of effort and understanding. Now, I am no chef, I can barely cook, but, all the chefs be it home-cooks, pros, or cooking for mere survival, know what I am talking about.

I may not know a lot about cooking though scrolling Zomato and Swiggy and filling my YouTube feed with cooking videos is my one serious hobby. However, I know food, I appreciate food, and let me tell you one thing that food is still under-rated. Now, I know a lot of you might be thinking that maybe I haven't witnessed the huge pile of content that is there on the internet, don’t I know how many different types of cuisines are there in the world. But the answer to this doesn't belong to how many different cuisines you know or you have eaten or how many methods you know of cooking because food is not all about cooking, it is just one process, and food is so much more than that.

Since the beginning of time, it is helping us in our survival and is watching us grow while we experiment on it. Conflicts were challenged, technologies were improvised to give us a better experience of food, people travel to taste different cuisines and through those bites figure out how that part of the world is. If I talk about myself, I believe if one wants to know about the culture of a place, they need to taste its local cuisines, what raw food ingredients they have and they will automatically feel much more connected to that place.

Food in itself is a soulful experience. Every bite has its own story, and if you just listen to it, you will know how much knowledge it has to share. Traveling around the world and through time, constantly adjusting to the needs of different cultures, holding rich tales of time at its very core, and still aspiring to impersonate the love and hard work of thousands in every single bite.

Since my adolescence, food has been a huge comfort to me; my reward for success, a sense of relief in the gloomy days and now I am pursuing my passion by doing engineering in food technology and learning about its intricacies. But still every day, I have to answer what kind of field is this. Ironic, right!

We are so used to taking it for granted, as the basic requirement for our continuance that we don't acknowledge its significance. We have no idea how everything around us is related to food. If you eat well, you will naturally have a long and healthy life and if you don't take care of your food, your body will likely deny its support to you. So, appreciate this essential means of survival and those who provide it to you and be a little more grateful that you came across such a marvelous FOOD-BEING.

As for my love story, I fall for food every single day, be it any variety, color, or origin, I also have my picks, and being an Indian, my love life is spicy enough. Also, Joey doesn’t share food however if you can stay committed to your plate you are more than welcome to be a part of this delicious adventure.

Thank you for reading and let me know your food love in the comment section.
